Product Safety NZ reported that some individual sachets of the Bunjie Peek-A-Boo Probiotic Baby Eye Wipes were not properly sealed during manufacturing.

The baby wipes product was recalled following an audit that discovered contamination with mould in some of the items.

“As a result of air flow in and out of the sachet, the preservative system may have failed, leading to mould growth,” Product Safety NZ said.

Using a wipe contaminated with mould on a baby’s eyes or face may lead to eye infections, irritation, allergic reactions, or other negative health effects. People with sensitive skin or compromised immune systems may face a higher risk.

The probiotic bamboo-based products were available for purchase from December 1, 2024, to August 30, 2025, at Chemist Warehouse, Baby Bunting, and through Bunjie’s online store.

Customers were strongly advised to cease using the product immediately and either return it to the store where it was bought or get in touch with Bunjie directly to receive a refund.

“Consumers should stop using the product immediately and take the product back to the place of purchase to receive a full refund with proof of purchase. Alternatively, consumers can contact Bunjie directly to receive a full refund, with a photo of the product including the batch code. After receiving a refund, the product should be immediately and safely disposed of,” Product Safety NZ said on its website.
