Moonhub is in the process of shutting down its operations, with only a select number of its employees expected to transition to Salesforce.

Founded in 2022 by former Meta engineer Nancy Xu, Moonhub specialised in artificial intelligence tools designed to transform the recruitment process. The company developed solutions that used AI to identify, assess, and support candidates throughout hiring, onboarding, and payroll management. Its technology aimed to automate traditionally time-consuming human resources tasks, providing companies with a more efficient way to manage talent acquisition.

Despite raising $14.4 million in venture capital from notable investors including Khosla Ventures, GV (formerly Google Ventures), and Salesforce itself, Moonhub has decided to cease its business activities.

“By joining Salesforce, we are accelerating our mission in this next chapter. Moonhub’s talented team will play a key role in advancing Salesforce’s AI strategy, including Agentforce. As a customer and investor, Salesforce has already played a role in Moonhub’s journey. From our earliest conversations it is also clear that our companies share deep core values like customer trust, along with a resolute conviction in the role AI agents will play in unlocking an era of global innovation and opportunity. We are excited for the impact we will make together,” Xu stated in a post on Moonhub’s website on Monday.

The integration of Moonhub’s engineers and AI specialists is expected to strengthen Salesforce’s efforts in this area. It has been actively expanding its AI and data management portfolio through acquisitions and strategic hires. Recently, the company completed an $8 billion acquisition of Informatica, a leader in data management solutions, and acquired Convergence.ai, an automation startup, to bolster its AI offerings.

Industry experts view the partial integration of Moonhub’s team as a clever talent acquisition rather than a conventional company purchase. This shows a growing trend among technology giants to absorb specialised startup teams to accelerate innovation without full mergers or acquisitions.
